Ride a comfortable Amtrak passenger train through the scenic Feather River Canyon, then enjoy an evening at one of Reno's fine hotel-casinos. This will be the first public passenger train to travel the full length of the canyon in many years. The mountain peaks should be capped with snow, the vegetation green and the river flowing fast for this rare trip on this historic line.

On Saturday, April 1, the trip will start at 8:00 AM from Emeryville and travel along the Bay as it races to Sacramento, with passenger stops in Richmond (with an excellent BART connection from Fremont and other points arriving at 7:55 AM), Martinez and Davis. After a brief stop in Sacramento for passengers our train will speed up the former Western Pacific tracks past Oroville to the scenic Feather River Canyon. Our train will then follow the winding river up the canyon, over the famous Keddie Wye and on to Portola. At Portola, tour buses will take us on to Reno where our hotel rooms will be waiting for us. We are scheduled to arrive in Reno with plenty of time to have a nice dinner, see a show or have fun with lady luck at the gaming tables. The next morning, our buses will transfer us back to Portola where the train will be waiting for our return trip through the Feather River Canyon and on to Emeryville with quick stops at Sacramento, Davis, Martinez, and Richmond to let off passengers.

The train’s consist will be Amtrak Horizon cars used on the Reno Fun Train. Also in the consist will be Amtrak’s last dome car. Seating in the dome car will be available to all passengers on a rotating basis. The consist will be pulled by Amtrak locomotives.

The trip includes includes the train trip both days between Emeryville and Portola, two lunches, the bus trip both days between Portola and Reno. Packages with a hotel room in Reno start at $299. There will be an extra fare ($15) bus between San Jose Diridon Train Station and Emeryville. On Sunday there will be a connection to an Amtrak Capitol at Emeryville for the trip back to San Jose. Tickets for the Capitol should be purchased directly from Amtrak.

We are offering a Winners Book of valuable Reno coupons, worth $90.00, to each participant.
